Meet Eddie “Edball” Tana

Eddie “Edball” Tana is a tattoo artist, entrepreneur, and the founder of Element Tattoo Supply. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, in 1974, Eddie moved to the United States with his family in search of a better life. Raised in Fullerton, California, he developed an early passion for independence, self-expression, street art, and tattoo culture.

At age 15, Eddie began exploring art and tattooing. With guidance from experienced tattoo artists, he developed his skills and, at 18, sold his car to purchase his first tattoo kit. What began as tattooing friends quickly grew into a respected local reputation, setting the foundation for a lifelong career in the tattoo industry.

In 1994, Eddie began his formal tattoo apprenticeship at Boulevard Tattoo in Hollywood under Uwe. He later worked at Studio City Tattoo, where he continued learning from established artists and expanding his technical knowledge across a wide range of tattoo styles.

In 1999, Eddie and friend Bob Nguyen opened Addictions Tattoo Inc. in Orange County. In 2003, Eddie went on to open OC Tattoo Inc., building a respected Southern California tattoo studio known for quality work, creativity, and a strong connection to the tattoo community. His experience working alongside talented artists, including Arnold Santos of Lefty’s Tattoo in San Diego, helped shape his approach to tattooing and his specialty in Japanese-inspired artwork.

Throughout his career, Eddie has tattooed a broad range of clients, including musicians, actors, athletes, and professional fighters. He has also worked internationally as a guest artist at Homies Tattoo in Hiratsuka, Japan, from 2006 to 2007.

After returning to Orange County, Eddie saw firsthand that artists needed more reliable access to professional tattoo supplies. That realization led to the launch of Element Tattoo Supply in 2008. His goal was to create a supply company rooted in real tattoo experience—one that values safety, quality, community, and the needs of working artists.

Eddie’s work has been featured in publications including Inked, Lowrider, and Japanese tattoo magazines. OC Tattoo has also been recognized by OC Weekly. Beyond tattooing and supplying artists, Eddie has supported music, athletes, fighters, and emerging talent throughout the community.

Today, Eddie continues to work by appointment at OC Tattoo while guiding Element Tattoo Supply with the same independent spirit that began his career. His focus remains clear: support artists, build trusted partnerships, and help strengthen the tattoo industry for the next generation.
